Check Your Credit Report Regularly

Posted Thursday, May 20, 2010 in Credit-Mortgages-Finances

Federal law requires that consumers be able to obtain one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting companies -- Experian, TransUnion and Equifax.  The only truly free website for obtaining these free credit reports is www.annualcreditreport.com.  Consumers can also call 877-322-8228.

Keep an eye on your credit report by getting one of the three free annual credit reports every four months.  This will help you be sure that your credit report is error free.  And in the event someone else has stolen your identity or Social Security number, checking your credit report regularly will help you catch such fraud more quickly.
